The Forest is busy

It was a beautiful mild sunny day and the carparks in the forest were very busy. However we chose to walk of the beaten track and we were able to enjoy a quiet walk only seeing the odd person in the distance. The path we chose came to a little gate that looked as if it hadn't been used for years and the path itself was very overgrown. A deer skipped across the path but was soon gone and we enjoyed looking at the different fungi and admiring the changing leaves as the sunlight caught them.
Now it is just gone 5pm and alas it is getting dark as the clocks went back an hour during the night.

We found this rather overgrown path and a very hard to open gate as we walked through the woods. Posted by Picasa

Shaggy ink caps. These fungi have always fascinated me as they slowly dissolve dripping black ink.until they are gone. Apparently they are edible when young but once they start to drip it is best not to eat them. Posted by Picasa Posted by Picasa

Autumn in the New Forest

A few pictures from our walks at Busketts and Pigbush today. it is still mild here, but we have had a fair amount of rain over the last week and the streams are flowing again. The paths are getting muddy, but it is still pleasant to walk.

Walking at Telegraph.

After a wet day yesterday, today has been dry with some sun and very mild. This morning Missy walked with Taivas at Telegraph. Several times we heard Bucks roaring and we saw groups of deer running in the distance. The paths were very muddy but near the end of the walk we found some big puddles for the dogs to clean up in.
