I Woke Up This Morning

This morning at 7.30 it was snowing! We had to rush out and play! The ponies had a bit of a shock.
We so rarely get snow in the Forest so it was a real treat.
Missy has never seen this much snow and she loved it. raffles enjoyed it too!
Sadly by lunch time it had gone, but it has just started again.....
Who knows what tomorrow will bring!

Well at least it isn't raining today, just a little drizzle ,but very dark and gloomy.
We took the dogs for a good walk,although Missy is protesting at being on the lead....only another week and then you can run free again Missy.

Mogshade pond is very full and three white ponies were drinking from it.

Mogshade Hill in the Sun

Well finally we have some sun! We walked at Mogshade Hill, a lot of the time we were squelching through mud and the pond is full to overflowing which is very unusual for this time of year. As we walked up the hill we saw what we thought were ponies on the path, but a closer look and we realised they were deer. One of them was a white doe, not an albino, just a deer with a very pale coat. It is a recessive gene and you don't see many white ones, her fawn had the normal colouring. She really stood out from the background and even though they quickly skipped away we could still see her in the distance. Maybe the white deer were the original unicorns..who knows!

It was drizzling when we walked this morning at Mogshade. By the pond we met this cute little calf, it can't have been very old as you could still see the umbilical cord hanging!

This afternoon we walked at Moghade Hill . You can see we had blue skies and for once it felt like summer. At the top of the hill we met this cute little foal playing hide and seek, we also saw some little calves out in the sun.

And Still it Rains

Today we walked from Mogshade Hill. it was very breezy and at times very wet. Highland water is very full and running very fast. The whole forest is very wet and boggy. You definitely need wellie boots on.
The Sun did come out for a little while and Missy will chase sticks in any weather.

By the time we got to the pond at the top of Mogshade hill, the rain was back. The pond is full to overflowing, most unusual for this time of year. Below you can see the footpath at the top of Mogshade hill,it looks more like a river at the moment though.

We took the dogs for a walk from the Canadian Cross this morning, we saw plenty of foals on our journey, they are all over the forest now and we saw over 20 different ones as we drove through the forest. The car park was quite busy , but we only saw a couple of people in the distance on our walk. When we got to the pond, there were only ponies about so we were able to let Missy off the lead for a short swim.
