The Good Weather Continues

Its been a beautiful week end in the Forest and the dogs had two beautiful walks. Missy loves to get wet and then get everybody else wet.
it has been very busy as everybody comes out to enjoy the sun, but you do not have to walk far from the car parks to get away from the crowds.


When we got back to the carpark, they were feeding the birds and I got this one of a nuthatch.

Our Morning walk was along Dockens Water starting from South bentley. it was warm and sunny. I was pleased with the shot of the horses going over the little bridge.

Just as well we didn't want to go that way. About a month ago a car was swept away here.

These damselflies are so pretty to watch, like little blue jewels floating along the water, but they are just so difficult to catch on a photo.Yhis one is a Beautiful Demoiselle
Not sure if this is the grey or the Yellow Wagtail. It has been identified by two of my more informed readers as a Young grey Wagtail. (Thanks Pete and Jan)

It doesn't feel very summery at the moment. However we managed to avoid getting wet on our walk this morning, there were a few spits and spots but no where near as bad as the weather forecast had suggested. We started our walk at Cadman's pond, there are still no sign of any goslings and I am beginning to think their won't be any this year. Down by Docken's water we found an old tree stump for the dogs to pose on.

Cup Final Saturday

John is looking forward to watching the Cup Final this afternoon. Finally after 7 years the new Wembley Stadium is being officially opened before the game starts. We took the dogs to Cadman's pond late this morning and had a long walk, starting and ending at the pond. There are so many little foals in the Forest now and we passed several, sleeping, grazing and frolicking by Dockens Water. Recent rain has set the stream flowing again and the grass on the banks is green and lush looking.Even the dogs enjoy eating it.
At the pond we saw several groups of ducklings, but they are growing fast and beginning to look like little adults. We couldn't see any sign of goslings yet , but the geese were honking noisily. We will keep checking and hopefully we will see them soon.
