Raffles impersonates Newton

Newton sat under an apple tree and formulated the laws of gravity.
Raffles sits under the crab apple tree and thinks a while. If only biscuits grew on trees!

Alittle rain and suddenly this pretty fungi of fairy stories is everywhere.

A sunny day and a walk from Cadman's pond

I first saw this tree stump a few years ago and it remind me of a little deer Can you see it?

We walked at cadman's Pond this afternoon. We were hoping to hear the Bucks roaring , but we didn't . The rut will be starting soon!

Th first is Oak Milk Cap (Lactarius quietus) Then we have the Boletus reticulatus) and finally Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)
I looked but no pixies or faries were out in the rain!

A damp morning walk at Pigbush.

It was a damp morning but not really raining. At times we got quite wet as the raindrops fell off the trees.No one was out in the forest at Pigbush. Fungi are springing up everywhere and I wish I was confident enough to try picking some and cooking them. However it is easy to make a mistake in identification so safer to leave them alone!
We saw a small group of deer but as yet we having heard the bucks roaring. i expect to hear them any day now.Hopefully we will be able to get close and get some photos!

A fungi village. These are two toned wood tufts or Kuehneromyces mutabilis and aapparently they are used for flavouring soups.

A foal rests on the path.he doesn't seem to mind the drizzly rain
