Finally A summers day in June

Today the sun finally came out. It was warm and pleasant for our afternoon walk at Canadian Cross. This car park is by the Cross that was used as a place of worship by the Canadian soldiers during WW2.
As we went into the enclosure we saw a mauve field of Foxgloves. We walked down to the stream. This used to be a favourite walk in the summer as there were deep holes in the river bed for the dogs to swim. Last year it was decided that this stream should be returned to a former state and so they put gravel in the river bed and raised it by a good four feet! It is not as easy to walk along the bank now but we managed it and the dogs found one or two places deep enough for swimming. Raffles just drooled and begged for biscuits!
We saw several foals and there were alot of ponies around the pond. Already the water level is very low and if the summer is long and hot it will probably dry out. At the moment it is still deep enough for the dogs to have a good swim before going back to the car for the trip home.
