Walking in the Heather

Just for a short while at this time of year, the forest turns purple as the heather flowers. At Deadmans Hill you have a good view over the little valley and the slopes are a beautiful purple colour. Its a very pleasant walk even if the hill back up to the carpark is quite steep! Despite some heave rain showers there is still very little water in the stream and in places the stream bed was still dry. In one of these photo John is standing on the dry bed and peeping up through the heather. The dogs love running through the heather and in places it is high enough for them to disappear from view. When we left home the sun was shining but just as we started walking the black clouds came , but the rain was very light and we enjoyed our walk. It is still dull out but not raining.
