Back to Eyeworth Pond.

We went back to Eyeworth for an hour or so and witnessed the frisky ducks in the car park, the por female was being harassed by several drakes!
meanwhile the little blue tit was looking for a mate.

There are now 5 males and 4 female mandarin ducks and hopefully they are thinking about raising a family or two.

A couple of sparrows.
The little coal tit was having a quick snack.

Mudeford

Our final stop this afternoon was Mudeford. i had never been here before and i ws surprised the beach was so sandy as just a couple of miles up the coast it is big pebbles! There is a great cafe here that sells wonderful cakes and the Posh hot chocolate was good too.

There are lots of lobster pots on the quay and the cheeky sparrows and starlings were flitting in and out of them.

Standing and Staring

Leisure
by William Henry Davies

"What is this life if ,full of care
We have no time to stand and stare?
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare."

Sometimes it is good to just stand and stare. I spent about 30 minutes just watching the birds by the pebble pool, they may not have been as exotic as yesterdays kingfisher, but they provided plenty of entertainment!

Life in the back garden.

Longtailed Tit , Great Tit and Sparrow.

The pebble pool attracts a lot of birds to the garden. Big wood pigeons down to the tiny wren. This year we have seen more sparrows then we have for a long time. I have read that their numbers are declining, prehaps they are making a come back. Today I was luck to see some longtailed tits .
