The year seems to have flown by and it is hard to believe that it is the end of November already. it is still very mild for the time of year, but also very wet and muddy in the forest. The last week has been very wet and although it was dry today it was misty and damp. At times we were knee deep in mud on our walk and the dogs needed to wash their paws when we got back to the stream at the end of our walk. Whilst we were walking through the inclosures today we came a cross a lot of small christmas trees. They are not ready for harvesting et but every year the Forestry commission sells Christmas trees to the public. The signs are already up and sales will begin this weekend. We will wait a couple of weeks before getting ours.

The end of another month.

With so much rain having fallen in the last few days and more predicted for tomorrow it is hard to tell what is flood water and what is stream! Posted by Picasa

After all the rain

We had a few light showers this morning and I managed to get the rainbow photo as the dogs had their morning walk at Busketts. This afternoon it was very blustery, but not cold and we walked down to the River Beaulieu at Deerleap....there was a lot of flood water lying about almost like a second river!
The Beaulieu River at Deerleap. The water levels are still very high. Missy really enjoyed playing and swimming. Raffles was more interested in Biscuits!

These photos are not of the river it is just the floodwater lying in the forest.

A wet walk at Kings hat.

we had a lot of rain overnight and this morning. Thunder lighting and hailstones, but it was dry this afternoon when we went for our walk. The Beaulieu river had flooded and we had a lot of fun getting across the river to return to the car.

We have had a lot of rain, I think we need a longer bridge.

We managed to get across the other side but the footpath looked as wet as the river. Posted by Picasa

Happy Thanksgiving

Today our American friends are celebrating Thanksgiving and I have been reading some of their comments as they give thanks for all the good things in life. It seems a little sad that we don't have this custom here.
So today I give thanks for the good things in my life. For my friends, my family, my dogs, the Forest and for all the wonderful friends I have made on the Internet who share a little bit of their lives with me. Posted by Picasa
After a night of heavy rain , we had a pleasant walk in wintry sunshine. The forest seemed rather busy and when we arrived at Shatterford carpark we realised that they were getting ready for the Pony sales, these take place four or five times a year.
We set off on our walk and enjoyed the scenery. Missy was glad to be out i the forest after her visit to the vets yesterday for scans to check her bladder and try to resolve her continuing cystitis problem. After a two hour walk we came back to find the car park backed and parking on the forest as the pony sales were now in full swing. The sales are not widely advertised and we were a little surprised at just how busy they were. We did not go to investigate further with the dogs as it was so crowded.

After another night of heavy rain the bogs and streams are full of water.
