Is this Summer?

Well today at 7.30 it wasn't raining, it was very dull and very windy but dry. We decided to walk early as the weather forecast was for more rain. can there be any rain left to fall? We went to Deerleap and walked down to the river, where the dogs had fun playing in the water. The wind continued to blow and even with my big raincoat on it wasn't particularly warm.
When I got home th heavens opened and the house was so dark. Now the sun is shining for a little while but with temperatures in the low 60s it must be one of the coldest summers for many many years!

Not a good weekend for photographs

None of the photos I have taken this weekend have been that good. its been dull and humid. This afternoon I went to the Turfcutters arms to meet some other photographers and have a chat. On the way home we stopped at Hatchetts pond , but the swans were a long way off and it started to rain.

A very new Calf

It was drizzling when we walked this morning at Mogshade. By the pond we met this cute little calf, it can't have been very old as you could still see the umbilical cord hanging!

A Morning Stroll at Shatterford

Missy the Swamp Monster

Shatterford Bog

A little Moo

Ponies grazing at Shatterford.

This morning started off sunny and we set off for a walk at Shatterford. We were the only car in the car park The dogs loved playing in the big puddles and the swamp. At one stage o our walk we heard an enormous crash, and then we heard the chainsaws.....they were working in the Inclosure. We weren't going that way so it didn't bother us. By the little bridges, which were in a bad state of disrepair we met some moo cows., and a bit further on we came across a very yappy Jack Russell. The next bridge had been repaired and the workmens truck had really churned the path up! As we entered the woods we came across a lovely group of Fallow bucks.
By the time we got back to the car the skies were dark grey and the rain began on the journey home! But who cares? we had a good walk!

Some Bits and Bobs from Today

This pretty little foal was right by the road at Janesmoor.

This looks like a very young stallion, he was smaller than the mares and looked as if he was a yearling. However he was certainly doing his best to please the mares!

Cows taking a drink In Janesmoor Pond

I don't know what sort of ducks these are , not even sure if it is a Mr and Mrs!

Scruffy duck, I wonder what it is ?

The little ducklings are growing fast and are begining to look more like adult ducks.

Lots of cows were at the pond today, having a drink and admiring themselves in the reflections. As yet there are no signs of goslings.......I hope there will be some this year!

Drizzly Morning at Pigbush

After the sunshine of yesterday evening it was disappointing to walk in drizzle this morning and as soon as we got home the sun came out! On our walk we saw a herd of deer in the distance and we also had several glimpses of a heron flying! Down by the little stream we met a group of inquisitive calves , one even gave Missy a Kiss, she was very quiet and was as interested in them as they were in her.

A Dull Overcast Saturday

Today has been dull and Overcast, with a bittely cold wind. This morning we walked at Mogshade Hill. When we got to the pond we met a small herd of cows who watched us intently, they obviously thought we were up to no good.
This afternoon we walked at Pigbush, it was even duller than this morning. It was very quiet and very few people were out. A few Ponies were around but still no foals.
