The sun tried hard to break through the haze this morning but it never quite made it. However it was warmer than it has been lately and we had a pleasant walk . As we drove to Ashley walk carpark we saw a beautiful herd of deer running across the road. The car park was busy and plenty of people were out walking their dogs....but soon we were walking on our own. We went
along the stream and then we climbed the ridge, (had to make a slight detour here as the dogs found an old deer skeleton), and made our way across the top where we met a herd of cows. We were busy keeping an eye on the dogs making sure they wern't disturbing the cows when we got a surprise. Two small calves suddenly leapt up in front of us, they had been hidden in the heather. it was a mixed group of cows and some of them were very pretty. We then made our way back down to the stream and then up the hill to the carpark.

Just wanted you to know that I think your blog is absolutely super. I've been looking for a blog from England that would remind me of home - I grew up in London and went to boarding schools near Tetbury, Glos. and Lacock, Wilts. The photography is wonderful - as are your dogs and the New Forest ponies. One of my uncles lived by Epping Forest and I walked often with him there, but only once went to the New Forest. I read "The Forest" by Edward Rutherford a couple of years ago and found the history fascinating. You're obviously enjoying life and I'm so happy you're willing to share the delight.
Thank you for your kind words.
I grew up In Edgware North London and moved to the forest about 20 years ago. I have grown to love the Forest and try to take as many photos as I can.
