It rained overnight and this morning. It is a while since we had any rain and the waterboards are warning of shortages this summer because we have now had two dry winters. This afternoon we walked at Millyford bridge. The Stream here is called Highland Water and is the same stream that we walk by at Canadian Cross. About a year ago they started experimenting with this stream and they dumped tons of gravel in the river bed raising it by several feet.
We hadn't walked at Millyford for a while and the water levels seemed much higher than we would expect so maybe they have added gravel here too. They had certainly thinned the trees out and it looked very open and flat.
I think I preferred it as it was and I wonder if the Banks are now high enough out of the water for the Kingfishers to nest.
