it was another beautiful spring day. A bit of a breeze but the sun was shining again. We deviated from our normal walk at Slufters and followed the little stream. It was very peaceful and in the shelter of the trees it was also very warm. As we got back to the car a lapwing was stutting along the ground I took a few picture but did not think I could get close enough for them to come out. They turned out better than I thought. The Lapwing is becoming rarer and where once we saw flocks now it is more usual to see just a few. They nest on the ground and are often called peewits because this is how they sound. On the way home I saw a foal in the distance.
Now I must get back to shifting the 2 tons of gravel sitting on our drive!

Mary - I love reading your blog and seeing your beautiful photos of the places you visit. Many years ago I lived on the edge of the New Forest and met my former husband there. I have many happy memories of walking dogs there. Thank you and keep posting!
