The woolhouse is the only medievalwarehouse still in use in Southampton. it was built just after 1400. The front of the wool house was rebuilt inthe 19th century, but most of the wall running along Bugle street is oringinal.Since the decline of Southamptons wool trade in the 16th century the wool house has had many uses. In the early 19th century it housed french prisoners of war and today it houses the Maritime museum.
