Walking round Island Thorns Inclosure.
Today we tried a walk from my new walk books. It was about 5 miles and took us about 3 hours just as the book said. We started out walking along one of the ridges at the highest point in the forest, before descending down to Eyeworth pond once the site of a flourishing Gunpowder factory employing more than 100 men and occupying 70 buildings. We then slowly climbed back up to Homy ridge before returning to the car park at Telegraph. Much of the walk was on gravelled forest tracks but at times we were walking through the boggy muddy forest. It was a beautiful Sunny Autumnal day.
