A walk from the carpark at Deadmans Hill

Today we had a very pretty walk in the heather. This carpark is on the top of a steep slope . Once you get down in the Valley it is warm and sheltered and very peaceful. We climb the hill the otherside and have wonderful views of the Valley. We then head back down to the little stream, where the dogs can have a drink and cool off. After following the stream along a little way we go back up the hill to the car.

Back to Ashley Walk today.

It was cool when we started our walk today, but soon the sun came out. We had a very pleasant walk along the stream and then up in the heather. Although you can see the road in the distance it is very quiet here ,the traffic noise does not seem to reach down in the valley. We had some good views of a Buzzard flying overhead, we could also see a kestrel hovering and swooping down. As we walked up the hill back to the car we could hear a large flock of noisy seagulls overhead. It was cool enough for Missy and Dora to have a good romp together, but warm enough just to sit in the heather when the sun was out.As we went up the hill at the end of the walk the sun had gone in and dark clouds were appearing in the sky..so maybe it will rain tonight.

A much Drier walk today.

Today we walked at Slufters Pond. I think this is Missy's favourite walk she loves this little pond and will happily swim for ages. Raffles prefers to pester humans for biscuits as we sit on the bank watching the dogs. On part of this walk there are lots of Harebells growing . They are such a pretty flower, a very delicate shade of blue which doesnt show that well in the photos.
There is also a lot of heather in this area and the bell heather which has a deeper shade of purple is in full flower now whilst theling heather is just beginnng to open.So we had a very pleasant walk with a trip to the pond as we started and again as we finished.

Lost in the Forest.

Today Gill and I took the dogs, Raffles Missy and Dora for a walk at Fritham. We know this area very well. We went down to the river and along the banks. It started to rain a little, then a little more. Soon it was raining very hard and we were getting very wet. We decided to try and stay under the trees to keep out of the worst of the rain. Somehow we took a turning and got very lost. It took us three hours to find our way home by which time we were very very wet......the dogs had a great time and wondered why we were complaining about the rain!
