Mary These are unusual, do they get flowers or is this how they grow?
Hi Val, i added a little bit to my catkins picture they are the tree flowers. They have no petals, but produce large amounts of pollen that is then dispersed py the wind. they appear before the leaves of the trees.
Interesting I think you should call them 'cat tails' *lol*
